Hawaii marriage licenses

- Hawaii Marriage license applications can be started online (https://marriage.hawaii.gov.) but need to be completed and filed in person with a certified license agent. We will provide advice and/or assistance for obtaining an appointment with the agent. A $70 license fee payable to the State of Hawaii is not included in our fees and is subject to change without notice.
There is no residency or citizenship requirement. A blood test is not required. A certified copy of a birth certificate is required only for persons 18 and under. Persons 19 and over need a valid driver’s license, passport, or official identity card. Copy of a divorce record is needed if the divorce became final within the past six months. The license is valid for 30 days and only in Hawaii.

Important to remember

- Bring the wedding rings to the ceremony.

- It is the couple's responsibility to bring the marriage license with them to their ceremony because it needs to filled out and signed by the officiant immediately after the ceremony. If an additional meeting is required because the license was not there, a fee of $150.00 may be imposed to cover travel, time, and inconvience.

Photo Tips

- For a beach wedding where the wind may be stronger than expected, it is advisable that a bride with long hair uses an “updo” hairstyle.

- Having a prop that serves as an accent color works well for pictures. A lei, and especially a bouquet, works well for this purpose.

- Prior to the wedding day, extreme caution should be used to protect the bridal couple from sunburn. In Hawaii, it is easy to burn. Take precautions. Use sunscreen with the highest UV protection throughout the day – whether sunny or cloudy – when on the beach or playing on our wonderful Island.

Situations out of our control

- Bad weather conditions are something we cannot predict, nor can be held responsible for. However, we will go our best to come up with an alternative.

- All  bouquets are subject to availability of flowers. Not all flowers are available year-round.

- Even though we attain a beach permit as required for Maui beach weddings, the use of any public beach on Maui is on a first-come/first-serve basis. Beach locations cannot be reserved.

- In the event that the officiant or the photographer is unable to perform the wedding due to illness or accident, we will obtain a professional replacement.
